I've been seeing lots of skinny legs around for some time and I think wide leg pants and culottes should make a comeback. I'd probably pair it with a loose fitting blouse or a floral (or plain) tee. I could even wear it with a collar blouse and have it unbuttoned at the collar to give it a relaxed look. Culottes are from the 70s and I think its always been nice that it even became a trend back then. Wear it with a pair of pumps even. I'm just saying they should make a COMEBACK...

poka-dot silk blouses..i love poka dotted items, they look so sophisticated!
I, for one, love shopping at thrift stores. I particularly like fashion trends from the late 90s and early 2000s. It was during the time when cashmere sweater cardigans became more affordable. I, often, saw them in stores like Bebe and Arden B and then during the early 2000s, it became less elusive to find cashmere sweaters at lower prices. I also loved suiting skirts and suiting wide leg pants of this time. Fashion at this time seem to have better quality sold for the price the retailers were going for than fashion sold nowadays. You can probably find late 90s and early 2000s trends in thrift stores. The first poka-dotted blouse (peach color) at the top is made of silk and made by (vintage) Bebe, with 1/2 length bell sleeves. It is a wrap top with lace trimmings (kind of looks like outerwear lingerie). I love this top and have worn it once last month during a night out. I wore this top with a pair of dark washed, boot-legged jeans and a pair of shoe pumps. I kept it kind of casual. I think for this type of top, you would have to wear boot-legged or flared leg jeans. It actually made me look very lean and skinny (and I am medium build). The second picture of the black silk poka-dotted blouse is made by Forever 21 probably during the 90s. I was surprised that it was silk because Forever 21 rarely sells silk items but since this was old it was probably made during this time. I love this shirt because it reminds me of the 40s. It's button down blouse with a convertible collar and has short button ruffled sleeves. As you can see, it's a sheer blouse. I would keep this causual and wear jeans with it or keep it business like by wearing a pegged skirt with this blouse. I love them both. I usually thrift every month and when i can find vintage items, i become very elated!

I absolutely love vintage, especially during the 20s and 40s. Well this is sort of a 40s and 50s kind of dress. I actually found this dress at Burlington Co. Factory for 30 dollars and the flower veil head dress was about five dollars. I really like pill box hats but havent found one that looked good on me until i went shopping at Burlington. I was surprised that this was even in department stores. When I see people wearing pill box hats i usually think of weddings and fancy dinners (or Kate Middleton), but i am so intrigued with them that having something like a flower veil head dress would be close enough to a pill box hat. I like this dress very much. I have never had a dress like this before. this is a shift dress with some 1/2 sleeves and with four buttons in front. I like the houndstooth plaids, kind of gives that vintage look. This is my first dress that is vintage looking. I will probably wear it out to dinner!

Never giving up...
After receiving a degree in fashion design, I have been conflicted to much of finding a career in fashion. It all happened when in the last semester of school, of which I was studying abroad, that I got sick and had to fly back home. Not being able to finish my studies abroad was humiliating but being in another country for the first time for three months was a good experience anyway. I wasn't determined to fly to success after applying for graduation because then I had fallen ill. Since 2008, the year that I got sick, I have been dealing with my illness and being able to successfully get back on my feet several times and succumbing to nightmare-ish relapses throughout the years. As of beginning of 2012, I've been doing good and have maintained my health. I am happy now, but one thing missing is that I haven't found a job. I knew I couldn't just find one after all those months and years of not continuing to learn about fashion. There were big gaps in my resume, and so I went back to school, a community school, that had a good fashion program. I didn't know how good this fashion program was until I entered my first semester. I was not completing a certificate in Apparel Design but reissuing myself to learn several skills that I have forgotten. Flat pattern was something I wanted to relearn and in most universities, they only have one flat pattern class offered to students, but here at this community college, we have two semesters. Sewing wasn't a strong skill that I have, so now I am in an intermediate sewing class. What I hope to learn and prove, that I have a strong skillset for fashion design and fashion merchandising. I have decided to get my certificate in Fashion Merchandising, something that I have little knowledge of. Hopefully this will help me find a job in fashion as well. Well, I've gone a long way to just give up. I am so determined to find my way doing what I love. They say find a job in something you love...because if it's something not worth going to in the day, why do it? Having to deal with my illness was tough and depressing at times, but I have been so positive. You learn to be positive in times when you're down. If you're not, you're feeling the worse of the worse. So I am not giving up. Hopefully this fashion blog thing helps me keep interested and keeps you interested as well...(if I don't find a job in fashion...I can always do this as a hobby.)
